Extraction and Evaluation of Musa paradisiaca Stem Mucilage as a Pharmaceutical Excipient

نویسندگان

چکیده

Aim: In present Pharmaceutical trend, natural excipients are gaining more importance because of their availability, safety, performance, and cost. The work aimed at extraction the mucilage from stem Musa paradisiaca (banana) evaluation extracted for its binding disintegrating properties with Paracetamol as a model drug.
Methodology: was by aqueous method followed precipitation evaluated various physico-chemical properties. Drug-mucilage compatibility studies were conducted FT-IR spectrometer. in three different concentrations used to prepare 2 sets tablets well Binding compared starch standard binder microcrystalline cellulose disintegrant first second set respectively. Wet granulation total eight batches 1 gm Paracetamol. Pre compression post parameters evaluated. Then similarity factor both (binding disintegration test) calculated comparing test each set.
Results Discussion: results shown that (MPS) has similar release retarding effect increased concentration time when cellulose.
Conclusion: Thus, can be better agent tablet formulation high explored slow or extended effect.

Extraction of Mucilage and its Comparative Evaluation as a Binder

A binder holds powders together to form granules and also provides the cohesiveness required for binding of the granules under compression to form a tablet. Some natural excipients are currently available for pharmaceutical formulation. Aim of this study was to isolate the mucilage from different plants and to evaluate them as a binder. Here an effort was made to investigate the efficacy of muc...
